The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Boy Scouts teaches skills that give youth the ability to do things for themselves and others, and teaches youth patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred virtues. In achieving this purpose, emphasis is placed upon the Boy Scouts of America’s educational program and its oaths, promises, and codes for character development, citizenship training, and mental and physical fitness. The Boy Scouts maintains that no member can grow into the best kind of citizen without recognizing an obligation to God. Therefore, the organization recognizes the religious element in the training of the member. Faith Community Ministries in partnership with the Sagamore Council of the Boy Scouts of America desires to form troops that can use the Faith Community Center as its home base, use our facilities and reach out to our community. We currently are in search of a key leader for this program. If you are interested, please contact Danny Little at dlittle@fcmlafayette.org
