Food Pantry Volunteer Job Descriptions

INVENTORY CONTROL / STOCKERS

Job Summary: To help with inventory management of all the food that comes in through food drives and donations. The hours for this will not necessarily be the hours that the Food Pantry is open. This type of work is "behind the scenes" and your hours vary according to when you are available, but we will need help after food drives and food donations arrive.

Duties: To help gather all food into the Food Pantry stock room. To place food on shelves according to the specific planogram and proper rotation. To help with inventory of the food by recording what comes in, so we know what we have an excess of or what we are running low on. To communicate what foods we are in need of.

Responsibilities: To stock donated food items on pantry specific stock room shelves in an organized manner. Communicate any issues or concerns to John and Patti Childes.

Qualifications: To have a heart to love and serve others. To like to work with people and be a team player. To be able to lift boxes of donated food and sort on stock room shelves accordingly. May also be called upon to help with food dives and pick up bins of food from other locations that gathered food for us.

APPOINTMENT SCHEDULER

Job Summary: To schedule appointments for clients to come and receive food. The hours needed to do this do not necessarily need to be while the Pantry is open. Hours can vary.

Duties: To answer the phone, email or fax's and schedule appointments according to our hours of operation. These calls will come from referrals like Pastors, Deacons, etc. To help schedule the next appointment for our guests we are currently serving.

Responsibilities: To get all appointments schedule communicated in a timely manner and organized. To help maintain a loving and professional environment to all guests. Follow Food Pantry policies and procedures in a positive manner. Communicate any issues or concerns to John and Patti Childes.

Qualifications: To have a heart to love and serve others. To like to work with people and be a team player. Good communication and follow up skills. Profession phone etiquette, detail oriented and some minimal computer skills may also be needed.

STORE ATTENDANT

Job Summary: To assist Food Pantry guests with selecting three days worth of food from inventory. The amount will depend on how many are in the household, and what the circumstances are. Guidelines will be established and must be followed.

Duties: To welcome and greet our guests. Confirm appointment and complete minimal paperwork. Verify identification. Assist other Food Pantry volunteers with bagging/boxing of food. Reschedule next appointment, if necessary. Help to maintain a visually pleasing store and a friendly environment.

Responsibilities: To help maintain a loving and professional environment to all guests. Follow Food Pantry policies and procedures in a positive manner. Communicate any issues or concerns toJohn and Patti Childes.

Qualifications: To have a heart to love and serve others. To like to work with people and be a team player. Good communication skills.
